For Veterinarians

In 2020, patient loads increased with so many individuals working from home and noticing illness more quickly in addition to adding new furry members to their families. Many clients, believed to be  frustrated by the pandemic, became increasingly aggressive and verbally abusive with veterinary staff. In addition, fewer and fewer technicians were graduating out of what were once busy programs. Clinics were more short handed than ever, coupled with increased business, due to isolation or exposure absences. Every team member began doing twice the work they had before! We're losing Veterinarians due to burnout and poor work-life balance. 

 

Veterinary medicine is not an easy field to “take a step back” in. It’s difficult to stay in your home hospital with your team, who is being overrun by the daily patient load, and set healthy boundaries for yourself. To say, I need to work no more than 40-hours per week - or less! To say I don’t want to miss this birthday party/dinner/night out, etc. and not feel like you’re letting them down. But how do we fix it?

 

We don’t all have the same needs, mental/emotional health status, or lifestyles. For some, the busy and at times chaotic day in and day out of a full time home hospital is very rewarding. You’re part of a team and something bigger than yourself. For others, you’re just tired. You love medicine and helping those who cannot speak for themselves - the animals! But you’re losing your passion because you feel out of control of your day to day. You’re angry and you don’t know why. I think we’ve all be in both of these positions, at least from time to time.

Work as a relief Veterinarian only or fill shifts to supplement your current income. Tell us what sparks your fire and what your skill set is and we’ll directly send open shifts to you from hospitals in the area. Search the calendar for open shifts that fit your lifestyle. We all know the need for Veterinarians is out there - build your schedule on your terms! STAY in veterinary medicine doing what you love and scale back or add more hours without feeling like you’re doing it at the expense of your teammates. Instead, you’re the hero in any shift you fill!

 

How it works:

1. Fill out an inquiry form describing what you’re looking for. 

2. Receive a phone call to lay out a staffing plan and review contract for services. 

3.  

   Complete background and drug testing - paid for by Veterinary Superheroes. 

4. Sign services contract and fill out onboarding and employment documents after passing background and drug tests. 

5. Get matched with hospitals and choose open shifts you want to work.

6. Work as many or few hours as you want per week based on YOUR personal schedule. 

7. Get paid bi-weekly by Veterinary Heroes based on shifts you work. Hospitals must pay you half rate for shifts they cancel without 1-weeks notice. 

8. Enjoy being a HERO to the hospital and their team. Enjoy helping animals. Enjoy your freedom.
