For Technicians

In 2020, patient loads increased with so many individuals working from home and noticing illness more quickly in addition to adding new furry members to their families. Many clients, believed to be frustrated by the pandemic, became increasingly aggressive and verbally abusive with veterinary staff. In addition, fewer and fewer technicians were graduating out of what were once busy programs. Clinics were more short handed than ever, coupled with increased business, due to isolation or exposure absences. Every team member began doing twice the work they had before! We have watched as technician after technician began leaving the field due to burnout and poor wages.
Veterinary medicine is not an easy field to “take a step back” in. It’s difficult to stay in your home hospital with your team, who is being overrun by the daily patient load, and set healthy boundaries for yourself. To say, I need to work no more than 40-hours per week - or less! To say I don’t want to miss this birthday party/dinner/night out, etc. and not feel like you’re letting them down. But how do we fix it?
Technicians, we don’t all have the same needs, mental/emotional health status, or lifestyles. For some, the busy and at times chaotic day in and day out of a full time home hospital is very rewarding. You’re part of a team and something bigger than yourself. You’re not only receiving wage compensation, but non-wage compensation in the form of benefits - think medical, retirement and pet discounts. You look forward to the paychecks with that overtime pay on them. You’re able to find the balance you need or are at the beginning of your career and are willing and able to work all of the hours thrown your way. For others, you’re just tired. You love medicine and helping those who cannot speak for themselves - the animals! But you’re losing your passion because you feel out of control of your day to day. You’re angry and you don’t know why. I think we’ve all be in both of these positions, at least from time to time.

How it works:
Fill out an inquiry form describing what you’re looking for.
Receive a phone call to lay out a staffing plan and review contract for services.
Setup and attend a paid working interview with Veterinary Superheroes to assess your skill set for future matching with hospitals.
Complete background and drug testing - paid for by Veterinary Superheroes.
Sign services contract and fill out onboarding and employment documents after passing background and drug tests.
Get matched with hospitals and choose open shifts you want to work.
Work as many or few hours as you want per week based on YOUR personal schedule.
Get paid bi-weekly by Veterinary Heroes based on shifts you work. Hospitals must pay you half rate for shifts they cancel without 1-weeks notice.
